Metal Options, Sizing, and Care
Metal Options:
Titanium
Titanium is a light gray metal with great durability and strength. They are lightweight, comfortable, and long-lasting with no need for special care. They are hypoallergenic, chemically resistant, and can be worn in nearly any environment. The metal will scuff and mar over time but will hold up to a great deal of abuse without cracking or breaking.
Chrome
Chrome is a bright white metal with a brilliant luster. Its weight is similar to Gold but many times harder and more durable. Chrome rings need no special care and can be worn in nearly any environment or condition. The metal will scuff and mar over time but will hold up to a great deal of abuse without cracking or breaking.
Zirconium
Zirconium is hypoallergenic, has incredible chemical resistance, and is very lightweight. It is not ideal for wear in rough conditions or activities. The black layer of Zirconium is subject to scratching. If you are hard on your rings you may want to choose Cobalt or Titanium.
14K White Gold:
White gold is the perfect alternative for those who want the luxury of gold with a cool silver tone. If you find the cost of platinum too expensive, white gold gives you the same look for much less per ounce. Very soft metal and can scratch easily.
Sizing:
*Please note: If you are not used to wearing a ring, then it is likely everything will feel too tight to start. Keep in mind that after a few weeks of wearing it you won't even know it is there.
Many people make the mistake of thinking that the ring should easily slip over the knuckle so sizing a ring to simply slip over the knuckle will cause it to be too loose. If it is too loose, it could possibly catch on something or even fall off and get lost.
Other considerations: Keep temperature in mind. Fingers can fluctuate throughout the year, swelling during the hot and humid summer and shrinking during the cold and dry winter. If your fingers are slightly swollen or cold, make sure you bring your hands to room temperature before trying on the sizers.
Take diet into account. Alcohol consumption and salt intake can also cause temporary fluctuations in fingers. Many people will even notice a difference in the way their rings fit after eating a particularly salty meal.
Consider the width of the band. Very wide rings can be less comfortable to wear because they take up more space on the finger. The ring “size” is the same, but it feels tighter because the ring is wide
Care:
Regardless of the metal/materials used in the ring, all rings should be treated as fine jewelry and should be removed during harsh activities to avoid scratching. We recommended avoiding prolonged exposure to water and chemicals. All rings can be cleaned with regular jewelry cleaner.
