Pendant/Necklace Care

All jewelry will develop scratches—this is perfectly normal and part of its story. To keep your pieces looking their best, store jewelry separately to prevent them from rubbing against each other, remove them before physical activities or household chores, and clean gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Here are some tips to care for your Soundwave Jewelry:

CARE FOR OUR STAINLESS STEEL PVD JEWELRY:

Regular Cleaning

  • Be Gentle: Always clean gently to preserve the integrity of the coating.
  • Use Soft Cloths & Mild Soap: Wipe with a soft cotton or microfiber cloth and a mild soap with water for routine cleaning.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Do not use scouring pads, steel wool, or abrasive brushes—they can scratch or damage the PVD coating.
  • Skip Harsh Chemicals: Avoid products containing hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, bleach, or other caustic agents, as they can degrade the coating and underlying stainless steel.
  • Dry Thoroughly: After cleaning, immediately dry the surface with a soft, clean cloth to prevent water spots and streaks.

Stain Removal

  • PVD-Safe Cleaner for Tough Stains: For stubborn stains or fingerprints, use a PVD-safe stainless steel cleaner on a soft cloth and rub gently.

Additional Tips

  • Protect from Dust: Shield the product from dust and dirt during construction or in dusty environments to prevent scratches.
  • Scratch Care: Minor scratches may be buffed with a PVD-safe stainless steel cleaner and a soft cloth. Deeper scratches may require professional refinishing.

CARE FOR OUR STERLING SILVER JEWELRY:

Daily Care Tips

  • Store properly:
    • Keep silver jewelry in a cool, dry place.
    • Use anti-tarnish pouches, bags, or cloths, or store in a zip-lock bag to reduce air exposure.
    • Store pieces separately to avoid scratches.
  • Avoid chemicals:
    • Take off jewelry before swimming, bathing, or using cleaning products.
    • Perfume, hairspray, and lotions can accelerate tarnishing.
  • Wear it often:
    • Surprisingly, wearing your silver helps keep it shiny, as friction slows tarnishing.

Routine Cleaning

  • Soap & water (gentle clean):
    • Mix a few drops of mild dish soap with warm water.
    • Use a soft cloth or a very soft toothbrush to gently clean the jewelry.
    • Rinse well with clean water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  • Polishing cloth:
    • Use a special silver polishing cloth to buff your jewelry.
    • Avoid paper towels or tissues—they can scratch.
  • Commercial silver cleaners:
    • Only use cleaners labeled safe for sterling silver.
    • Dip jewelry briefly (don’t soak for long), rinse thoroughly, and dry.

Dealing with Tarnish

  • Polishing cloth:
    • Most light tarnish comes off easily with a silver cloth.
  • Homemade cleaner (for heavier tarnish):
    • Line a bowl with aluminum foil, shiny side up.
    • Add hot water, a tablespoon of baking soda, and a dash of salt.
    • Drop in the silver jewelry so it touches the foil.
    • Let it sit for 1–2 minutes (you’ll see tarnish transfer to the foil!).
    • Rinse and dry thoroughly.
    • Note: Do not use on jewelry with pearls, soft gemstones, or oxidized (blackened) details you want to keep.

What to Avoid

  • Abrasive cleaners or rough materials.
  • Toothpaste—it’s too abrasive.
  • Prolonged soaking (especially in commercial dips).
  • Ultrasonic cleaners for jewelry with glued-in stones, pearls, or fragile gemstones.
  • Contact with rubber bands, newspaper, or wool, which can accelerate tarnish.
